Animates Earth for American Farmland Trust IsoDynamic develops digital animation
to highlight risk to America's Farmland.
Silver Spring, Maryland
October 09, 2001 -- IsoDynamic, developers of e-learning
content and custom Web sites, today
announced the launch of a digital animation created for American
Farmland Trust that highlights the danger that sprawl presents to
America's Farmland.
"We were asked by American
Farmland Trust to help them communicate information about a devastating
problem, the loss of America's precious farmland" said Kraig
Robson, President of IsoDynamic. "I learned from AFT that we
are losing 4 million acres of farmland per year. I think the animation
brings this point to life, and, through the power of e-mail and
the Web, can now be distributed almost instantaneously to enormous
numbers of people."
American Farmland Trust
had been giving live demonstrations with an apple, which represents
Earth. The presenter would begin by slicing the apple into pieces
that represent the portions of our planet that cannot be farmed.
By the end of the demonstration, there is almost nothing left of
the apple.
IsoDynamic translated this presentation into an
animation using Macromedia's Flash, where the apple "morphs"
into an image of Earth. "Flash gives us the ability to create
an incredibly exciting and detailed animation, but because of the
vector-based technology, it can be viewed easily over a 28,800 bps
modem" said Robson.
American Farmland Trust is now distributing the
animation via it's Web site, as well as at conferences with affiliated
organizations such as Slow Food.
